Sharing a little Sunshine on 9/11
September 11th, 2002, a year later...
Beautiful friends, Frank
and I have been reflecting on the impact that September 11th has had on our family.
A year ago today, was the end and the beginning for us and our beautiful little girl. From
this day on our lives would never be the same.
It would be the end of the happiness we thought that we had and the beginning of what happiness
is really about.
It had started out
as such a simple and unassuming day. I went to turn the television on so that Chloe could
watch cartoons while I got
her cereal ready. Sorry
sweetie not today. Today there would be no cartoons, no silliness and no laughter. On September 11th Frank and
I learned that we might lose our daughter to a deadly disease. On September
11th Frank and I learned that many families did lose their
daughters, sons, mothers, fathers, etc. to a deadly disease, Hatred. Both events have drawn us closer to
strangers than we
ever dreamed possible.
The acts of hatred and disease have turned into such overwhelming
LOVE.
We see the world through
a new set of eyes. We are now a little more patient, a little more compassionate,
a little more understanding, a little more helpful and a lot more loving.
The beauty of life was right there in front of us all along.
It was so easy, so accessible. It is ironic how the worst events can bring
out the best in people. I now know for certain that
love can overcome the darkest of days.
So if you go through
your day and are feeling a little stressed and are inclined to take out your frustrations
on some
unsuspecting soul, just remember that it is so much easier to
bring a little sunshine to someone else than it is bring gloom
and it just might bring a smile to your face too :) Even on the cloudiest days we can remember
and dream about the sunshine
that was once there
and can be there again. It is true that our beautiful daughter's body is being ravaged
by a horrible disease
but her soul shines
so brightly, reflecting all of the beauty that we love to share. Sometimes it is so bright and
so overwhelming that by the end of the day our faces are burnt with love.
I can think of nothing
I'd rather do than bask
in the rays of my daughter's light. Please share your love and
a little bit of your sunshine with someone else today.
Thank you everyone
who has brought a little bit of sunshine to our
lives. We love you,
each and every one of you.
Bless you,
Lisa, Frank and Chloe
Fedorak
