"It's the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance...
It's the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance."

Putting her shoe on the wrong foot (thanks so much for the adorable Piglet outfit Corinne,
it is her favourite outfit right now, especially now that the cold weather has arrived!)

"Light the Night Walk" for sweet little Brenden, for our best friend Angela's mom,
and for all those we have known and loved with Leukemia & Lymphoma.

It was a beautiful night.

Canuck Place October 'Gift of Time' Gala

Here are Frank and I at the 'Gift of Time' Black Tie Gala a couple of weeks
ago.  It was an amazing affair.  We dined in the company of incredibly
gifted and generous people, all in honour of our precious children.
Our sweet little Chloe was featured at the front of the program.

The gorgeous masterpiece in the background was a painting
that includes brush strokes from some of the children
connected to Canuck Place.  It is beautiful!

The painting was the hilighted piece in
the auction.  All proceeds went to
Canuck Place.

Autumn Abundance 2007

"Life in abundance comes only through great love."  -- Elbert Hubbard

Life has been so incredibly busy for Scarlett, Frank and I these past few months that I can safely say that this is the busiest Frank and I have ever been in our entire lives!  Frank works full time, attends an evening class and is now volunteering for three different organizations.  One of the organizations is Canuck Place.  After a very comprehensive and time-consuming application, training and interview process (over 30 hours), Frank became a trained Family Volunteer for Canuck Place Children's Hospice.  I am so proud of him!  This is a major accomplishment and I just know that he is going to be a valuable contributor to other families going through so much of what Frank and I have already been through.  He is also volunteering at Vancouver Coastal Health, and Immigration Services.  A very busy man!

I am also very busy.  I am still a full-time mom to an incredibly energetic and spirited toddler, as well I am now working almost full-time from home consulting for the BC Pediatric Society and I love it!  I feel so blessed to be able to do the work that I do and still be home with my little girl.  I feel very lucky indeed.  I am also attending a college writing class 'Discovering the Writer Within' one night a week.  I'm loving it!  The one thing I never quite anticipated was just how hard it was going to be juggling my time between work, school, chores and all that Scarlett is involved in.  Basically I drop from pure exhaustion at about 2 (sometimes 3) am.  Then we rise between 8-9am and do it all again.  I'm a night owl and do a lot of the creative parts of my job and school in the evenings.  Scarlett is a night owl as well which doesn't always work in my favour but we do the best we can.

Speaking of Miss Scarlett.  She never stops from the moment she wakes up with her enthusiastic 'Hi!' to the moment we finally wrestle her to bed and cuddle her until she has no choice but to rest.  She still rarely naps and is always on the move.   Her little hands, feet and mind are always in motion.  Busy doesn't even begin to describe Scarlett.  She is hilarious, spunky, mischievous, adventurous, and curious all at once all the time!  One minute she'll be building one of her puzzles, the next she'll be riding her bike down the hall, then walking over the our cat to pester him, reading a book to her dollies, climbing our one step, sitting down and giggling at the joke she just told herself, then it's off to the magazine rack to peruse the latest mountain bike parts or the recipe of the month, or a new fashion must-have, then off once again to try on not one of mommy and daddy's shoes, but ALL of them, then she scoots off to the pots and pans cupboard to drag them from the kitchen to the living room.  Keep in mind that while all of this is going on everything is taken from its neat and tidy place to a new 'not-so-tidy' place in another part of the house.  Every night her toys and all of our things are put neatly away and the next morning, within less than half an hour the house is a disaster but so very much ALIVE.  This is the scene that Frank and I have imagined for so long....LIFE within our home.

Life is abundant here and it is because there is great love.  A love brought to us in a sweet little bundle we named Scarlett Rose.

I know there is a lot I could share and I know that I have been so terribly distant and neglectful when it comes to keeping our friends from afar up-to-date, however I can confidently tell you that everything for us right now is really quite wonderful.  Scarlett is everything, absolutely everything we ever could have hoped or dreamed possible when we wished, begged and pleaded for a chance to be parents again.

Scarlett is showing us that wishes should never ever have limits.  Dream BIG.  You never quite know what is possible.  Within this sweet little girl is GREAT ABUNDANCE!  She has shown us that we are so much bigger and so much more than we give ourselves credit for...

"Dream a little dream of me..."

Until next time sending our love,
Lisa, Frank & Scarlett
